In my Education 101 class, we learned about the different types of teaching philosophies. Below is the teaching philosophy that I believe I would want to use to teach in my future classroom.
After learning about all five philosophies in education, we took a test to see which philosophy would fit us best. The teaching philosophy that I got was the essentialist teacher. I like the idea of having a set curriculum to follow as a baseline and then I could add my own ideas to it. Another thing that I would do is use assessments to see if my students are on track or falling behind. I would use assessments throughout the year. Essentialists can also see if the way that they are teaching something is helpful for the students. Another teaching style that I like is Progressivism. I like it because Progressivism allows kids to have more hands-on learning. Having more than one teaching style in the classroom would be helpful for those students that learn differently since not everyone learns the same.
